Finding the perfect blog haircut and hairstyle for your face shape can be a game-changer! It’s all about highlighting your best features and feelings. Here are some tips based on different face shapes:
1. Oval Face: Lucky you! Almost any haircut looks great. Long layers, bobs, or even short pixie cuts will work. Just avoid too much volume at the sides
2. Round Face: Long layers or side-swept bangs are awesome choices. A long bob (or “lob”) is also super stylish!
3. Square Face: Softening those strong angles is key. Look for wavy styles or soft layers that fall around the jawline. Side bangs can also help soften your look.
4. Heart-Shaped Face: Go for cuts that balance your wider forehead and narrower chin. Layered bobs or shoulder-length hair with waves are fantastic options. Avoid very shortcuts; they can emphasize the narrowness of your chin.
5. Long/Rectangular Face: Add width to your face with medium-length cuts and curls. Bangs can also do wonders by shortening the appearance of your face length.
Do you shave out of habit but are always annoyed by stubble? Then try epilating.
Here’s how to do it correctly
Have you ever thought about epilating?
Probably not. Unfortunately, this type of hair removal is very focused on a female target group, as it has its origins in leg hair removal and is more commonly used by women.
Of course, the depilatory devices can not only make legs smooth but also every other part of the body, including men’s. The alternative to shaving has many advantages: After epilation, there is no stubble or razor burn—but up to 4 weeks of smooth skin—if you do it right. And the right device isn’t a bad idea either.
What exactly is epilation?
Epilating means removing all of the hair at its roots using an epilator. The whole thing works using a sophisticated tweezer system in the rotating head of a handy electrical device. Several tweezers grasp the hair at the same time and pull it out at the root.
Can men epilate?
Of course, they can! Epilation has a feminine image, yes. But anyone who wants to get rid of hair can epilate. Epilation is good, especially for men.
Their hair is usually thicker than that of women, grows faster after shaving, and causes nasty skin irritations such as ingrown hairs and blemishes. Are you plagued by razor bumps? Then read here what you can do about it. And use an epilator in the future.
How much does an epilator for men cost?
Epilators cost between 25 and 80 euros, but the cheaper ones usually do not include additional attachments for the different parts of the body. As an entry-level device, we recommend the compact Philips Satinelle Essential (see above).
A high-quality but inexpensive device. Even if you realize that epilation isn’t for you, the device won’t burn a hole in your wallet. You got a taste for epilators a long time ago. Then we recommend the Braun Silk-épil 9 epilator. The device comes with shaving and trimming attachments and is essentially the Porsche of epilators.
How painful is it to epilate?
Many people can cope perfectly with the pain caused by epilation. You can dose it yourself by tightening the skin and carefully proceeding centimeter by centimeter. Sure, it still drags. It’s unpleasant, but nothing compared to the strong rattle in the waxing studio, I promise!
Which parts of the body can I epilate?
Anyone whose hair bothers you. But be careful: the pain varies everywhere. Chest and legs are relatively insensitive. Armpits, especially the intimate area, are quite painful and are only for hard-core people. You can also remove back hair with the epilator. However, this is difficult to do alone.
What is the optimal hair length for epilation?
Advantage of waxing: You don’t have to grow a fur first and then pluck it out. With modern epilators, it is enough when the first stubble becomes noticeable and visible.
In concrete terms, this means that the correct length for epilating is between 0.5 and 5 millimeters. To do this, shave once before epilating for the first time and then epilate after 3 to 7 days, depending on how quickly your hair grows.
What do I have to pay attention to when epilating?
If you follow these 6 tips when epilating, you will catch all the hair and the skin will stay smoother for longer:
The perfect timing: The best time to epilate is in the evening. Any minor skin irritations will have disappeared the next morning.
Pay attention to the direction of epilation. It is logical to epilate against the direction of growth so that shorter hairs can also be captured.
Always take it easy! Move the device slowly over the skin. A stroke across the chest takes around 15 seconds at the optimal pace. If you are too fast, the hair will just break instead of disappearing with the roots. Then, oh well, they grow back more quickly.
Please don’t put any pressure! The epilator also finds its way.
The right angle: Move the epilator upwards against the direction of hair growth. This straightens shorter hair, and the result is smoother.
Maintain tension: If you stretch your skin during epilation—with the fingers of your free hand—you will get the hair the best. This is particularly important in difficult areas in the bends of the skin.
How often do you have to epilate?
Just like waxing, you can enjoy the comfort of up to 4 weeks of smooth skin. In the first month, however, you have to do it every week (much better than shaving every other day, right?). This way you can usually “catch” all the hairs in every growth phase.
After that, it is sufficient to epilate approximately every 2 to 4 weeks, depending on hair growth. Because the hair is pulled out of the skin at the root, it must first be completely regenerated by the body before it grows finely out of the skin again at some point. No stubble occurs when epilating.
Anyone who epilates regularly can look forward to up to 4 weeks of rest, smooth skin, and increasingly fine hair growth. And because the skin gets used to epilating, it tugs less and less over time.
In some places, the beard grows irregularly, and you ask yourself, “Can I stimulate the growth?” Here’s the answer:
Your beard doesn’t grow as full as your friends?
Don’t give up hope too quickly; many young men suffer from irregular beard growth. If you’re under 20 years old, there’s a good chance you’ll start to grow a beard.
The first beard hairs that begin to sprout during puberty are very thin. Some gaps in the beard close as the beard hairs become stronger towards the end of puberty in the early 20s. Tip: It is better to shave off the initially thin beard hairs. This looks neater than irregular fluff.
Does shaving speed up beard growth?
The myth persists. But: No, frequent shaving does not accelerate beard growth, and the hair does not grow back thicker. Because when you shave, you don’t come into contact with the hair root, which is responsible for the growth and quality of the beard hair.
But the beard hairs that are cut in the middle no longer have a frayed, pointed shape and are rougher and stronger. This way, you can at least cheat a little more on beard thickness.
Very important: Don’t play around with your beard hair or pull it. This will irritate the root, which, in the worst case, will stop hair production. This way, you can grow beard gaps yourself. You can find out here whether beard rollers accelerate beard growth instead.
Beard growth turbo testosterone
The fluctuations in the “male hormone” testosterone in the blood can also change the intensity of beard growth throughout life. Because testosterone levels also affect hair growth in men, for better or worse.
It increases in adolescence and often has not yet reached its peak at the end of puberty. While an increase in testosterone negatively affects the roots of the hair on the head and can lead to hair loss, it also causes increased body hair and thus increased beard growth, which covers smaller gaps well after a certain length.
Testosterone is responsible for the intensity of beard growth. Photo: Cottonbro / Pexels.com
By the way, artificially increasing testosterone levels for the sake of beard growth is not a good idea. Firstly, hormone preparations can only influence beard hair thickness and not the number and distribution of hair follicles. And secondly, you have to take into account that an increase in hormones can also lead to increased hair loss on the head.
Promising therapies for circular beard gaps
“The most common reasons why men with uneven beard growth or even real gaps in the beard area visit our specialist practice for hair diseases are circular hair loss (alopecia areata barbae) or congenital short growth of the beard hair,” reports dermatologist and hair specialist Dr. Frank-Matthias Schaart from Hamburg.
About 1 to 2 times a month, men with gaps in the beard area visit their specialist practice, asking for a diagnosis or therapeutic help. With these therapies, the specialist can give those affected hope, at least in the case of circular beard hair loss:
High-dose zinc treatments;
Topical immunotherapy by externally applying cortisone or injecting the hairless areas with cortisone crystal suspensions;
Treatment with the fractional laser. Schaart: “In around 50% of cases, the lost hair will completely regenerate after 15–18 weeks.”
However, “as a rule, there is no way to combat hereditary gaps in the beard, as the hair roots are missing or not even created,” says the expert. “In rare cases, infections of the beard hair roots caused by bacteria or fungi or “connective tissue diseases can be the cause of hair loss in the beard area.”
Can you transplant beard hair?
“Corrections in the upper lip area and on the cheeks are possible,” says Ursula Halsner, a hair surgeon from Munich. To put it simply, during the operation, tiny particles of skin (diameter approximately 0.9 millimeters) with hair roots are transplanted from the head to the face. “It is important that the hair on your head is strong enough to be suitable as a beard replacement. Hair that is too thin is unsuitable.”
The operation takes approximately sixty to ninety minutes, depending on the size of the grafts. “The healing time is only about ten days; a bandage is not necessary.” After twelve weeks, new beard hair begins to grow from the transplanted roots.
Make an appointment with a hair surgeon or send him a photo in advance to determine whether the operation is feasible. You can find more information about hair transplantation here.
Nutritional tips for a fuller beard
Before you decide on such drastic methods, you should first try to provide your beard with optimal growth conditions in a natural way: The nutrients biotin and silica have been proven to promote healthy hair growth. Preparations are available cheaply in drugstores.
However, with a healthy diet, you can save yourself this expense. Healthy, protein-rich foods such as vegetables, fruits, oatmeal, eggs, and cheese should have a permanent place on your menu.
By the way, rubbing the skin with hot mustard or garlic to stimulate hair roots to produce, fortunately, doesn’t work and belongs in the realm of beard myths.
Are there hair growth products for the beard?
Some men try to boost their beard growth with hair growth products for their heads. Reputable studies have proven, for example, the effectiveness of the active ingredients minoxidil or finasteride in hereditary hair loss on the head.
Whether minoxidil also works in the beard region is controversial: “Finasteride in tablet form generally does not help against irregular hair growth in the beard. Unlike in the area of the scalp hair, where it sometimes achieves sensational success in men’s genetic hair loss,” says hair expert Schaart, “If at all, you can try using a solution containing minoxidil, which you massage into the affected areas twice a day.
However, an effect is not certain here either.” Find out more about the side effects of finasteride here.
A full beard is still trendy; there is no question about it. If you have gaps in your beard that are extremely annoying or stressful for you, you should opt for a different beard style. Beard hairstyles that can be compatible with irregular hair growth include the Fu Manchu or the mustache, which is again very popular. You can find more inspiration in our beard hairstyle gallery.
Hardly anything is as individual in men’s grooming as shaving. We did the test and picked out the best wet and dry razors for you at the moment
The best Electric shaver, Series 9 Pro+
The ‘Series 9 Pro+’ is currently the flagship when it comes to precision and close, skin-friendly dry shaving. Braun’s 9 series has just become the test winner at the Stiftung Warentest. The special thing about the waterproof razor, which you can also use in the shower, is its shaving head, which consists of five shaving elements.
To capture every hair while shaving, the razor uses 10,000 micro-vibrations to raise the hairs. This ensures a smooth shave result, regardless of whether you have a 1, 3, or 7-day beard.
BROWN / PR
Another very useful tool is the ProLift trimmer made of surgical steel, which can be extended with one finger and effectively captures even longer hair, sideburns, and mustaches. The 9 Pro+ also comes with a ProComfort attachment. This attachment consists of small rubber nubs that prepare your skin for shaving and remove ingrown, tight hairs.
That’s what’s special: The premium equipment includes a cleaning station that cleans your device after each use.
Battery life: 60 minutes running time
Equipment: 6-in-1 cleaning station with cleaning cartridge, ProComfort attachment, travel case, charging cable, cleaning brush

The best intimate razor
The INTIMATE Trimmer i5 from Gillette is the first electric trimmer for the intimate area, and it convinced us. Unlike other hair trimmers, the blades of this device are much closer together.
This not only prevents skin irritation but also painful inflammation and injuries in the intimate area, as the skin cannot be easily pulled between the narrow blades.
Gillette / PR
If you have very sensitive skin, we recommend using one of the comb attachments to reduce the risk of cuts. Another advantage that convinced us is that you can also use the waterproof trimmer in the shower.
That’s what’s special: SkinFirst technology, which prevents cuts.
Battery life: 100 minutes of wireless use
Equipment: 3 comb attachments of different lengths
The best multi-trimmer set
Do you want a complete package with durable, robust quality? In this case, we recommend the Super-X multi-trimmer set from BaByliss. The 15-in-1 set has a practical magnet system with which the shaving heads can be replaced quickly and easily.
Flaconi / PR

That’s what’s special: The MagFix system uses magnetic force to hold the shaving heads securely in place.

Equipment: 4x shaving heads with MagFix system, precision trimmer made of Japanese stainless steel, 1x stubble comb attachment, 4x beard comb attachments, 2x body comb attachments, 1x eyebrow comb attachment, 3x body comb attachments, ear, and nose hair trimmer
The best safety razor
In recent years, barbershops have been springing up like mushrooms, showing how much importance men place on grooming and shaving. But you don’t have to go to your trusted barber for every shave; you can also achieve a precise shave at home with a little practice.
King C. Gillette / PR
Our favorite is the safety razor from King C. Gillette because it not only fits very well in the hand but also offers an unbeatable price-performance ratio. The wet razor is also particularly suitable for contouring facial hair and cutting very precise edges.
That’s what’s special: the double-sided blade can be changed quickly and easily.
Do you want a three-day beard on your face, a smooth chest, and a trimmed pubic area? And do you have a razor? It can’t work like that. The best body trimmers tested
With foam or gel, electric or wet, when it comes to the beard, almost every man has his favorite “tool.”. The crucial question is: Can you also use the same tool for the chest and intimate area?
Most men will probably think, “Why not? Hair is hair,” and they use their razors on their bodies too. We’ll explain to you here why you shouldn’t do this. And we’ll show you which tools are better for body shaving.
Why should men use a body razor?
Chest and back hair have different requirements than beard hair. The area to be shaved is larger, and the ergonomics are different.
A back razor offers these advantages:
More hygiene: Even if you shave in the shower, bacteria from the armpit or intimate area can remain on the razor. A second razor protects against this.
Less wear: The blades of your (wet) razor will not wear out as quickly if you use a different model for larger areas of the body.
Better result: Body razors are specially designed for the needs of body shaving. They have a larger contact surface, are equipped with more sliding elements, or have different attachments for the intimate area and breast.
Which tools help against body hair?
There are several ways to get rid of fur. Before buying a device, you have to ask yourself two questions: Do you want your body to be clean-shaven or just trim your hair? And how permanent should the hair removal be? You can then choose:
Body Hair Trimmer: Electric trimmers, also known as body groomers, can often both shave and trim—great if you like your chest smooth but not your crotch. Mostly waterproof, they are designed for trimming in the shower.
Back razor: How do you get rid of annoying back hair without help? With an extended arm for your razor or a special back razor. Here you can find the best razors in the Men’s Health test.
IPL: Do you want it to be permanently smooth? IPL technology is now also available for home use. Small flashes of light attack the hair roots, causing the hair to fall out.
But which razor is the best? These hair removers convinced us:
The best-wet razors

That’s what’s special: flip trimmer with precision blade

We explain how gray hair occurs, what remedies there are to combat it, and how you can appear attractive despite having white hair
Sooner or later, we all get it: gray hair. For some people, this happens in their mid-20s, and for others, it is only in their 50s that they find their first gray hair. Here you can find out why it varies so much from person to person, how exactly gray hair occurs, and whether you can delay graying.
Why do men get gray hair?
For the same reason as women, our hair grows from hair roots, which contain cells that are responsible for the color of our hair. In technical jargon, these cells are called melanocytes, and the color pigments are called melanin.
As soon as the hairs become visible on the surface of the scalp, they are pigmented horny threads. They show the information they learned in the cell: blonde curls, for example. The color and structure no longer change. Because as soon as they become visible, the hair is essentially dead matter that can no longer receive information from the root.
But why is my hair suddenly growing gray?
To produce the hair pigment melanin, the body needs the amino acid tyrosine. If there is not enough of this, melanin is no longer produced in the cell. During hair production, it is then replaced by empty spaces called “vacuoles.”. “If melanin is missing, the hair grows back colorless or white,” explains Dr. Frank-Matthias Schaart, a dermatologist and hair expert from Hamburg.
Gray hair is usually an optical illusion; the combination of white, colorless, and still-pigmented dark hair makes the hair appear gray overall.

Is gray hair normal in your 20s or 30s?
Don’t worry; the fact that more and more hair grows gray throughout your life is a natural, genetically determined process. Melanin production in the hair roots slows down until the body eventually stops producing it completely.
When the time comes depends on various factors: genes, diet, and lifestyle, for example. When the first white hair appears, it is different for everyone. For Central Europeans, this usually begins in their mid-30s, and for Africans and Asians, it begins much later. But some people get gray hair at 20 or 25. This is just as normal as getting gray hair at 50 or 60.
Why does stress cause gray hair?
It is very unlikely that you will suddenly grow gray hair due to a stressful phase at work. But “Stress can be a trigger for hair loss and therefore for premature graying of the hair,” explains hair expert Schaart.
How come? “If breakdown products from stress hormones accumulate in the body, they can trigger hormonal hair loss. Since dark hair is less firmly anchored in the hair root than unpigmented hair, dark hair falls out more quickly when stress is prolonged, leaving gray hair behind.”

Can I prevent gray hair with the right diet?
Poor nutrition or hyperacidity are suspected to trigger graying due to a lack of nutrients. “However, there is no study that shows that a specific food can prevent gray hair,” says dermatologist Schaart.
However, since pigmented hair is less firmly anchored in the hair roots for reasons that are still medically unclear, a healthy diet and lifestyle that generally protect the body’s cells can help ensure that they remain on the head longer.
The recommendations are: fruit, vegetables, and proteins provide the body with plenty of nutrients, while coffee, alcohol, and sugar are acidic and nutrient robbers. And: “Including additional tyrosine in your diet to prevent or delay the graying of your hair has proven to be ineffective,” says dermatologist Schaart.
What can I do about gray hair?
Which remedy is the right one depends on the stage of graying. Is it just a few hairs, or is the whole head white? This helps:
1st stage: gray hair here and there
Do you have a few gray strands sprouting in your otherwise strong hair? This can have many reasons: age, stress, diet, and the like. Check whether and what has changed in you and, if possible, stop it; perhaps dark hair will grow back again.
Anti-gray shampoos promise that with regular use, color pigments can accumulate specifically in the empty spaces responsible for the white color to replace the color pigments that are missing there (e.g. Alpecin Tuning Braun Shampoo). “This gives the hair its natural color back,” explains Rudolf Reisbeck, vice president of the Central Association of the German Hairdressing Trade.
2nd stage: gray temples and first white whiskers
You first see the precursor to complete graying on the temples and beard, where the hair has a shorter lifespan. At this stage, the production of the color pigment melanin has already been reduced.

Tip: If you want to camouflage the graying, a repigmentation product (for example, Re-Nature from Schwarzkopf ) that you massage into your hair every 6 to 8 weeks will help. A precursor to the color pigments is introduced deep into the hair roots, where they then develop.
Reisbeck: “The good thing about repigmentation is that the color changes don’t happen so suddenly because the hair only gets back its natural color after a few days.” So you don’t suddenly look “colored.”. By the way, no one will notice that you have dyed your hair.
3rd stage: completely gray
Are you already completely gray? Then you don’t have the opportunity to produce melanin. Hair that grows back is white or colorless. What’s more, you no longer have darker hair, which visually weakens the effect. You now have two options: 1.: Tint or dye the gray hair. Or 2: Simply wear your gray hair with pride and make sure it looks well-groomed.
Hairdressers can help men, no matter what stage of graying they are at. But be careful: dyed hair quickly looks unnatural, especially if it was completely gray the day before. “Men rarely come to the salon wanting to dye their hair because they are afraid that it will look too artificial,” says hairdresser Markus Salm.
What do I have to consider if I want to dye gray hair?
“I would never dye gray hair, but rather tint it, as it doesn’t completely cover the white hair but allows it to show through slightly here and there. That looks much more natural!
“A good alternative is to conceal gray areas with combed strands in a natural tone. The hairdresser combs the hair color specifically into white areas of the hair but leaves out a few hairs so that the color does not end up looking helmet-like.
Tip: It’s best to get advice from your hairdresser when choosing a color. Hair that is too dark makes men appear older than they are. Therefore, it is always better to choose a tone that is too light rather than too dark. Remaining and growing gray hairs are also less noticeable. Because the color gradually becomes weaker every time you wash your hair. It’s best to re-dye your hair whenever you’re going to get your hair cut anyway.
You should think carefully about whether you want to pluck away your gray hair. Photo: LightField Studios / Shutterstock.com
By the way, you can also tint gray beards. “Most gray beards generally look cool,” says Markus Salm. “However, with some, you can partially help with a tint. The same applies here: slight transparency increases the naturalness.” Here we tell you which beards will be popular in 2025.
What helps against a yellow tinge in rough hair?
Have you decided to own your gray hair?
Then you’re in good company: Ryan Reynolds, Ben Affleck, and Bastian Schweinsteiger show how attractive this look can be. If it is properly cared for, white hair is more sensitive than dark hair. They cannot protect themselves well against UV light due to a lack of melanin. Chlorine, nicotine and car exhaust fumes accumulate more visibly in them.
Consequence: The hair takes on a yellow tinge.
A silver shampoo helps against this (e.g., Brews Silver Charge Shampoo from Redken). It contains violet pigments. Purple is the opposite of yellow on the color wheel. This means that the two tones neutralize each other according to the complementary color principle. The result is silvery-gray hair.
For an intensive effect, it is best to let the shampoo work for 1-2 minutes while you lather the rest of your body with shower gel and shower off. Afterward, you should rinse your hair as quickly as possible. If silver shampoo is left on the head for too long, the hair will take on a purple tinge. You may have heard this from older women and men.
Is that too sensitive for you? Then you can have your hairdresser give you a silver tint that lasts about 4 weeks. When you trim, you can refresh the cool shine again.
Can I simply pluck gray hair?
As the saying goes: “If you pluck gray hair, two new ones will grow.” Complete nonsense! “You lose the battle against gray hair,” says star hairdresser Manfred Kraft. “That’s just the way things go. The older you get, the more gray hair you get. That’s why it may seem like after the first hair you pull out, you’ll get many more gray hairs.”
Even if it doesn’t accelerate graying, you shouldn’t pluck white hairs. This damages the hair roots in the long term and can lead to originally straight hair suddenly becoming frizzy and wiry, or, in the worst case, not growing back at all. And then you’d rather have gray hair than no hair at all, right?
Which haircuts suit gray hair?
Star hairdresser Tobias Tröndle from Frankfurt believes that gray hair makes men more interesting. For gray hair, he tends to recommend short, precise haircuts à la George Clooney, David Beckham, or Ben Affleck. “Longer hair often appears dry, brittle, and difficult to style. It requires intensive care and a lot of moisture.
There are only a few exceptions, such as Colin Farrell’s hair,” says the expert. Here we have the coolest celebrity hairstyles for receding hairlines for you.
Conclusion:
Make gray hair your advantage instead of a flaw
“I observe that today’s men are self-confident and have no problem with gray hair,” says trendy hairdresser Tröndle. There are so many ways to create an attractive gray with light tints, a good cut, and appropriate care that the loss of color becomes an image gain for men.
Clean-shaven, full beard, or stubble—this survey shows what kind of facial hair women love in men
Of course, the inner values count. But the truth is that others will classify you as a stereotype based on your beard style.
The good news is that this is easy to see through. A study by Parship examined whether and which beards women like.
The result: don’t have too much hair on your face, and please don’t experiment with shaving! We reveal what this means in detail here.
Which beard do women like best?
When it comes to women, a well-groomed stubble is at the top of their sexiness hit list. According to a survey of around 400 women by the online dating agency Parship, almost half of those surveyed (45 percent) agree: A stubble makes men sexy. No other facial hair scored so well in the attractiveness check. Of course, clothing can also have an influence on your attractiveness. That’s why here you’ll find men’s outfits that no woman can resist.

Does beard stubble get in the way when kissing?
When kissing, women like things to be tender. At least one in five said they preferred “topless” to scratchy stubble. Everyone else doesn’t mind.
How do women find full beards?
Only 9 percent of female respondents like it hairy. Trend or not, stylish beards are not well received by women. One in ten people has no use for hairy facial decorations. No matter what form it takes, the beard is an absolute love killer for her. So, get rid of the beard. Here are tips for the perfect shave.
Do women like mustaches?
Trend or not: women don’t like full beards. Photo: Laura Dewilde / Unsplash.com
Regardless of whether it’s a twirl or a classic mustache, only 2 percent of women have a hairy upper lip that gets their hearts pumping. During Movember, the ladies will certainly make an exception in their dating behavior. After all, if you grow a mustache now, you’re doing something good, and you’ll get into conversation with some women.
