Henna as a natural hair dye

Henna is a plant native to the Middle East that has been used to decorate the hair and body for thousands of years. Henna combines ingredients like cocoa butter, indigo herbs, and fresh organic lemon juice to create an organic and gentle hair dye. They are easy to use and give the hair beautiful and shiny colors. Shades of brick, black, and brown are available. They leave a protective layer on the hair.

Using henna to dye your hair is a wonderful natural alternative to synthetic dyes. Each color is expertly mixed with henna, essential oils, cocoa butter, and various herbs, leaving the hair significantly nourished. Henna seals the hair cuticle, limits hair breakage, and, thanks to it, the hair is nourished and beautifully shiny. Not only will you dye your hair with it, but you will also give it a nourishing mask. Henna is one of the permanent ways to dye hair, although it will wash out over time.

How does Henna work?

Hair consists of two or three layers, depending on genetics. The outer (protective) layer consists of flat cells that overlap like tiles on a roof. The skin protects a layer called the cortex, in which the hair color is created.

Henna is especially popular with women who want to achieve significant shades of red without the intervention of chemistry.

Chemical dyes penetrate the skin and enter the cortex to change the color of the hair. They can cause the protective layer of cells on the scalp of the hair to become disjointed and make it harder for the hair’s natural oil to travel from the roots to the ends, so the bottom of the hair is often dry and damaged.

Unlike synthetic chemical dyes, henna works on the skin, and hair acquires another protective layer. It also supports hair growth.

Ammonia-free hair dyes

More and more hair and cosmetic companies are participating in the creation of ammonia-free hair dyes. This is certainly commendable because ammonia is an extremely aggressive chemical that damages hair. Frequent and unprofessional hair dyeing with chemical dyes can cause hair loss.

Ammonia-free dye is best used when dyeing your hair for the first time. It is best if you just want to tone your hair or add a warmer shade to its original color. Most colors without ammonia do not last long and are washed out with each hair wash. Some hair stylists share the opinion that ammonia dye cannot completely cover the original hair color. It also cannot cover gray hair 100%. However, these colors are still evolving, and it is likely that in a few years, they will be able to face the listed problems as well.

Organic hair dyes

The main difference between organic color systems and chemical ones is that the base color (the main ingredient) is not only alkaline but also acts as a conditioner that nourishes the scalp.

This hair dyeing process is much gentler and does not cause side effects as often as with chemical hair dyes.
